Drake is in the news once again, but this time it doesn’t involve Meek Mill or Nicki Minaj. Drake has just became the first rap artist to have his album “If Your Reading This Too Late” go platinum. Of course there is the whole conversation about Quentin Miller being a ghostwriter for songs off the album, but personally I could care less. The album was straight fire and deserves a Grammy. I don’t care if Drake, Miller or the cast from “Degrassi” wrote the album, good music is good music.
This classic album contained hits such as “Energy,” “Know Yourself” and “Used 2.” Drake also had features with Lil Wayne, Party Next Door and Travis Scott.
Drake released this album in February in digital form only. This man went platinum and didn’t even sell his album in stores. Let that marinate for a second. Drake may release the album in stores later this year. Drake is also set to release another album this year entitled “Views from the six.” He may join the likes of DMX to have two albums go platinum in the same calendar year.
This is Drake’s fourth platinum album. The other three were “Thank Me Later,” “Take Care” and “Nothing Was The Same.”
